General conditions of access to the special competition

These special competitions are aimed at students who have completed the secondary level through vocational paths or in specialized artistic courses. 

 

1. They apply to holders of the following educational and training offers of double certification at secondary level, conferring the level 4 qualification of the National Qualifications Framework  :

  • a) Professional courses;
  • b) Learning courses;
  • c) Education and training courses for young people;
  • d) Sector-wide courses related with the schools’ network of Portugal Tourism, I. P. (Turismo de Portugal, I.P).;
  • e) Specialized artistic courses;
  • f) Professional training courses under the Youth Inclusion Training Program (Programa Formativo de Inserção de Jovens) from the Autonomous Region of the Azores;
  • g) Specialized artistic courses of secondary level in the music field;
  • h) Courses of the European Union Member States, legally equivalent to Portuguese secondary education, granting a double certification, school and professional; and granting the qualification level 4 from the European Qualifications Framework;
  • i) Other non-Portuguese courses, legally equivalent to Portuguese secondary education, granting a double certification, school and professional.

 

2.  Not be covered by the international student statute regulated by Decree-Law no. 36/2014, of 10 March, as amended.
3.  have Portuguese nationality, in the case of holders of the courses referred to in point i) above.

 

Specific conditions for applying to the special competition:

1.  Passing the Knowledge and Skills Assessment Test(s) required for the courses they can apply for, under the terms of the rectoral order published on the UÉ Portal (see information on access requirements ).

2.  Have obtained 95 points or more, on a scale of 0 to 200:

a) In the final classification of the secondary education course, conferring level 4 qualification of the National Qualifications Framework;

b) In the classification obtained in:

i. The professional aptitude test, in the case of vocational course holders;

ii. The final aptitude test, in the case of apprenticeship graduates;

iii. The final assessment test, in the case of holders of education and training courses for young people;

iv. In the final assessment tests of the modules included in the curricular plans of the courses organised in accordance with Ministerial Order no. 57/2009, of January 21, as amended, in the case of holders of those courses;

v. In the final assessment tests of tourism skills of the courses organised in accordance with the Ministerial Order of the members of the Government responsible for the areas of tourism, education and vocational training, in the case of holders of courses within the sector of the Turismo de Portugal, I. P. network of schools;

vi. In the artistic aptitude test, in the case of holders of specialised artistic courses; 

vii. In the final assessment test, in the case of vocational training course holders within the scope of the Youth Insertion Training Programme of the Autonomous Region of the Azores;

viii. In the classification of the Knowledge and Skills Assessment Test(s) considered indispensable for entry and progression in the cycle of studies to which you are applying.

 

3.  Have fulfilled the prerequisites set out in the General Access Regime for the course to which they are applying.

4.  In the case of an application for access and entry to a degree in Music, the application to this regime is subject to passing the PAVE, in addition to passing the Knowledge and Skills Assessment Tests.

 

The tests of knowledge and skills evaluation have a weight of 30% in the classification of candidates, being necessary in the candidature to present the certificate to be issued by the institution where the tests were performed.

HOW TO APPLY

Applications for the 1st Cycle Courses (bachelor's degree courses)  or Integrated Masters are made through an online platform, provided by the Direção-Geral do Ensino Superior (Directorate-General for Higher Education).

The information available on this Portal does not replace the necessary knowledge and reading of DGES website .

The courses you can apply for depend on the training area of the double degree course at secondary level or the specialised artistic course you hold. If you are interested in applying to a 1st cycle or Integrated Masters course at the University of Évora, check whether you can apply to that course by consulting the table  that establishes the correspondence between the CNAEF areas of vocational courses and specialised artistic courses and the 1st cycles and Integrated Masters courses at the University of Évora.

The application grade for access to the special competition cannot be lower than the minimum grade for access through the General Access Regime defined in the Rector's Order  for the year to which the application refers.

ACCESS REQUIREMENTS - Knowledge and Skills Assessment Tests

In order to apply for the special competition provided for holders of professional courses in secondary education and specialized artistic courses, the registration and approval in the knowledge and skills assessment tests are preconditions . Those are required along the different courses and by the several institutions to which the candidate will apply.

The University of Évora is part of a network of Higher Education Institutions of the South and Islands, which decided to jointly organize the test assessment of knowledge and skills. The tests are held on the same day and at the same time in the various institutions of the network:

  • Nautical School (Escola Náutica)
  • Estoril Higher School of Hotel and Tourism (Escola Superior de Hotelaria e Turismo do Estoril)
  • Polytechnic Institute of Beja (Instituto Politécnico de Beja)
  • Portalegre Polytechnic Institute (Instituto Politécnico de Portalegre)
  • Polytechnic Institute of Santarém (Instituto Politécnico de Santarém)
  • Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal)
  • University of the Azores (Universidade dos Açores)
  • University of Algarve (Universidade do Algarve)
  • Évora University (Universidade de Évora)
  • University of Madeira (Universidade da Madeira)

The candidate can take the test at any of the network institutions, regardless of the course / institution of the network he intends to apply. The student must register for the test at the institution where he intends to take it.

 

TIMETABLE FOR THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ASSESSMENT TESTS:

-Information about 2025/2026:

  • Information sessions for candidates and vocational schools
  • Registration for the tests: From 5 May to 23 May 2025 
  • Posting of provisional lists of registrants:  By June 2, 2025
  • Complaints to the provisional enrolment lists: 3 and 4 June 2025
  • Posting of the definitive enrolment lists: By 6 June 2025
  • Examination date: 12 June 2025, 3 p.m. (Portugal mainland and Madeira Island) 2 p.m. (Açores Island)
  • Submission of proof of justification for missing the exams*: From 12 to 19 June 2025
  • Examination date*: 2 July 2025, 3 p.m. (mainland Portugal and Madeira Island) 2 p.m. (Açores Island)
  • Display of the marks: 8 July 2025
  • Test Consultation: 10 and 11 July 2025
  • Submission of application for exam review: 10-14 July 2025
  • Display of final marks: Until 18 July 2025 

 

 

*Applicable in duly justified situations, namely infectious and contagious diseases, hospitalisation, death of a family member or fulfilment of legal obligations and official service. Proof of absence must be submitted via SIIUE with the credentials you used to register for the Knowledge Tests by 19th June 2025.

Enrolment for the knowledge and skills assessment tests 

Registration for the exams must be done online in the Integrated Information System of the University of Évora (SIIUE), by filling in the appropriate form.

 

Step 1: Register here   - when accessing the SIIUE  to register for the exams, the candidate must register externally (name, email address, ID number and a password of their choice). After registering, you will receive a notification at the email address you have provided for authentication and validation of your SIIUE user registration credentials (email address and password).

Step 2:  Access the SIIUE  to register for the competition using the external registration credentials obtained in step 1.

 Once the external registration has been validated, the candidate will be able to access the SIIUE with these credentials, in order to proceed with their application:

 

a) Make the application;
b) View information on any fees and the procedure for paying them;
c) Consult all notifications received under the terms established in these Regulations.
d) File a complaint within a maximum of 15 days after the results  have been announced/notified.
e) File a request for the exams to be re-examined, within a maximum of 3 days after the exams have been announced .

 

 

Documents to be attached when registering for the knowledge and skills assessment tests 

 

  •  Proof of qualifications (if you have registered that you have completed the vocational pathways course, you must attach the secondary school certificate or equivalent; if you are still in your final year, you must attach proof of attendance)
  • Identification document (or alternatively present it in person at the UÉ Academic Services within 3 days of submitting your application) 
  • Document proving, if you are a national of a country outside the European Union, that you are exempt from international student status under Article 3 of Decree-Law 62/2018 .

 

 

TESTS TO BE HELD

Each test of knowledge and skills assessment is composed of two parts. The first part focuses on Portuguese Language and Culture and the second part evaluates the knowledge in the specific area of the test in which you are applying (Biology, Economics, History of Culture and Arts, Mathematics for Social Sciences and Education, Mathematics, Physics and Psychology). The test to be taken depends on the course you want to apply to, as you can see in this table  . In case you want to apply to a course of another institution of the Consórcio Sul e Ilhas, please check in that institution the available places and the exams you have to take. You should confirm if your degree (CNAEF area) allows you to apply to the degree or integrated master you want.
