Prizes and Scholarships
The University of Évora Excellence Award was created in 1988 by the University Senate and is awarded every year to the UÉ Student with the highest mark upon completing their Bachelor’s degree, which must be at least 16 (out of 20).
Under the terms of article 20º of the Academic Regulations of the University of Évora, the notice announcing the School Prize is published annually. The complaints period runs for 10 days after the announcement of the results. Complaints must be submitted through a request on SIIUE/Gesdoc or delivered in person to the SAC. After this period has elapsed and any complaints have been decided, the result will be approved by the Rector.
In the first year, Merit Scholarships are awarded to all international students:
- in the first-cycle of studies who achieved an average entry grade of at least 14;
- in the second-cycle of studies who achieved an average grade of at least 15 for their Bachelor’s degree;
- in the third-cycle of studies who achieved a weighted average of at least 16 for their Bachelor’s degree (60%) and Master degree (40%).

In subsequent years, students must continue to demonstrate good performance, as stipulated in the Academic Regulations of the University of Évora , to continue to benefit from the merit scholarship.
The tuition fee for a student awarded a scholarship for Bachelor’s and Integrated Master degree courses is EUR 1,050. The amounts for the second and third-cycles of study are those stipulated in the notices of the opening of each course.
In the first year, all international students who are nationals of Portuguese-speaking African countries or who enjoy refugee or stateless person status will be awarded grants. In subsequent years, students must achieve the minimum expected performance, as stipulated in the Academic Regulations of the University of Évora , to continue receiving the grant.
The tuition fee for a student awarded a development and cooperation grant for Bachelor’s and Integrated Master degree courses is EUR 1,250. The amounts for the second and third-cycles of study are those stipulated in the notices of the opening of each course.
Created by the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation (FEA), in honour of its founder, Engineer Vasco Maria Eugénio de Almeida, three scholarships in the amount of EUR 1,500 each are awarded every year to the best finalist students attending the Economics, Business Management and Sociology courses.
The Joana Vasconcelos Foundation awards scholarships to Portuguese UÉ students with good school performance from low-income families who are attending the second and third years of first-cycle studies in Visual Arts - Multimedia or Design, and the first year of second-cycle studies in Artistic Practices in Visual Arts or Design.

Created in 2017, the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Évora Academic Excellence Award, in the amount of EUR 2,000, is awarded to the best research thesis (from a Master or Doctoral degree course) in the Social field, as defined in the Regulations .
Created by Peter Vogelaere, Professor Emeritus of the University of Évora, this annual scholarship is awarded to the student who completes their Bachelor’s degree in Sports Sciences with the highest average and who has also chosen to pursue further studies by taking a Master degree in Exercise and Health at the University of Évora. The scholarship amount covers the tuition fee for the first year of the Master degree course.
Merit scholarships are awarded to higher education students who show exceptional academic achievement in the course they attend, and are intended for undergraduate, integrated and master's students, and their assignment is regulated by Dispatch No. 1353172009 (2nd series), of 9 june, amended by Order No. 7767/2017 (2nd series), of 4 september and by article 21 of the Academic Regulation of UÉ . The number of scholarships to be awarded is subject to the scholarships approved and communicated annually by the General Directorate of Higher Education to Higher Education Institutions.

Within the deadline set by the Directorate-General for Higher Education , payments of the merit scholarship are made directly by the DGES to the student, by bank transfer to the account with the international bank account number (IBAN) indicated by the student.
The Jornal Ensino Magazine Merit Scholarship is awarded to students who have entered and completed the 1st year of a Bachelor's or Integrated Master's degree in the academic year prior to the award of the scholarship, in accordance with the stipulations of the Regulations .
The Eugénio de Almeida Foundation has a deep inter-institutional relationship with the artistic areas of the University of Évora. As part of its social and philanthropic vocation, and taking into account the difficulties experienced by students in a context of social and economic crisis, the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation created the Eugénio de Almeida Merit Scholarship - Artistic Areas for students at the University of Évora, in accordance with the Regulations .

The “Altice Labs Prize for the Best Master's Degree Student at the University of Évora” is intended to honour the best final-year student of any Master's degree in the TICE (Information, Communication and Electronic Technologies) taught by the University of Évora, in accordance with the stipulations of the Regulation .
