European Researchers’ Night

European Researchers’ Night

Celebrating Science, bringing researchers closer to the public.

The European Researchers’ Night is a biannual initiative launched in 2005, funded by the European Commission under the Marie Curie Actions, to celebrate science and bring researchers closer to the general public.

This initiative bridges the gap between science and citizens and demystifies the far-off image the normal citizen has of scientists. It is an opportunity for Portuguese researchers to showcase their work and innovations, and to stress the importance of effective communication between research centres and civil society.

The European Researchers’ Night consists of a series of activities that take place all year round in various European cities, culminating in a night filled with spectacles in celebration of science on the last Friday of September.
