The General Data Protection Regulation , in force since 25 May 2018, is directly applicable to all citizens and in all Member States of the European Union (EU), aiming at enhanced protection of privacy rights, regulating your protection with regard to the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data. The General Data Protection Regulation provides a set of rights for the holders of personal data that aim to promote the trust and integrity of their data. Whenever data processing is carried out by a public authority or body, the General Data Protection Regulation provides for the appointment of a Data Protection Officer. The data protection officer is responsible for performing the functions provided in art. 39.º .

The University of Évora, strongly committed to the application of the General Data Protection Regulation, appointed Prof. Doctor João Vaz Rodrigues to be in charge of the Data Protection Officer (Order 76/2019, of June 4th). The Data Protection Officer of the University of Évora ensures compliance of the processing of personal data with the legislation in force.
