Course Overview
This Master aims to promote specialized training in Special Education in order to respond to the demands of inclusive education, which is becoming operational in different educational contexts, in line with the current legal framework. Based on the principles of inclusive education, this master aims to enable students to become reflective and interventive professionals, able to critically analyse educational situations, in order to plan and assess contextualised learning opportunities, where all children can develop their learning potential with their peers. It aims to promote the construction and deepening of scientific knowledge and know-how, which will enable students to promote the construction of inclusive educational environments and eliminate barriers to learning. It also attempts the development of cooperation and argumentation skills that encourage dialogue with the different actors involved in the children's educational process (families, teachers, school management, Multidisciplinary Support Teams for Inclusive Education, and other professionals) to build the Inclusive School.

Career Prospects
Preschool teachers and Primary and Secondary School Teachers. With the certificate of the curricular component of the 1st year of the course, which does not confer the academic degree of Master, these professionals, with at least five years of teaching experience, may be considered specialised in Special Education and apply for recruitment group 910 (Support for children and young people with severe cognitive problems, with severe motor problems, with severe personality or conduct disorders, with multi-disability and for support in early intervention in childhood). The accreditation process by the Pedagogical Scientific Council for Continuous Training is renewed every edition according to the Decree-Law nº 95/97 of April 23rd. The Master's degree offers the possibility of progression in the teaching career.
Other professionals: The Master contributes to the professional development of psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists or other technicians who develop their functions in educational contexts.
