Marine benthic ecologist investigating how environmental conditions and biological interactions shape benthic biodiversity, food-web complexity and ecosystem functioning. My research integrates meiofauna ecology, sediment-associated microbial communities, stable-isotope food-web analysis, molecular approaches and quantitative modelling across estuarine, coastal and emerging deep-sea ecosystems. Building on published work on biodiversity-function relationships, I am developing an independent trajectory towards Predictive Experimental Benthic Ecology, connecting field evidence with controlled experimental validation; ecological indicators and predictive models. Focusing on ecosystem resilience, early-warning responses, restoration, blue-carbon processes and the translation of benthic knowledge into monitoring and decision-support frameworks.
