Course Overview

The cycle of studies is framed within the general principles defined under Decree-Law No. 74/2006 of March 24, as amended. In addition to these principles, there are the following equally general goals:

- Access to 3rd cycle training in Linguistics, also offered by the University of Évora.

- The deepening of active knowledge in the area of mother tongue and foreign languages and linguistics.

- The acquisition of levels of specialization in areas such as linguistic consultancy (for national and community public bodies as well as for companies), text editing (in the press, publishing houses and libraries), education (in the national, European or Lusophone space).

- The increase of competitiveness and employability in all market sectors that involve linguistic and cultural phenomena and where a solid training in the areas of multilingual communication is important.

Career Prospects

Specific Entry Requirements

1. Candidates must have a degree in the area of ??the course (Languages ??and Literatures, Linguistics, Language Sciences, Portuguese Language, etc.) or related areas (Communication Sciences, Journalism, etc.)
2. Candidates will be interviewed to assess their oral and written skills.
3. Foreign candidates from non-Portuguese-speaking countries must also provide official documentary proof (e.g. CAPLE) of their proficiency in the Portuguese language (minimum CEFR B2).
All the conditions described above (appropriate area of ??degree, positive assessment in the interview and submission of the document proving CEFR B2 language skills, in the case of non-Portuguese-speaking candidates) are eliminatory.
