Course Overview
Given the growing economic and social importance of the sporting phenomenon in Portugal, Europe and the Ibero-American space, associated with the growth in demand for this market segment in recent years, it is important to respond to the need for excellent specialized training in Sports Management in the 2nd cycle for graduates in various scientific fields, as well as the pursuit of postgraduate studies for active professionals.
The Master's Degree in Sports Direction and Management aims to: a) Develop advanced concepts, techniques and methods, arising from the interface between Sports Sciences and other Sciences, through a multidisciplinary curricular plan contextualized to the sports universe; b) Qualify higher education professionals with in-depth knowledge in the area of Sports Management, capable of working in the sports market in a competitive, entrepreneurial, responsible and ethical manner; c) Provide students with new perspectives and intervention tools to work in sports bodies or related entities, in order to carry out professional activity with high competence and innovative models.
Training in Sports Management has shown an increase in the number of employment opportunities, from the aspect of sporting spectacle as a global business to the aspect of physical exercise aimed at the health of the local population.

These graduates find professional opportunities in coordinating sports activities, events, facilities or products, as well as performing roles as Director, Manager, Administrator, Advisor, Consultant, Auditor, Teacher, Researcher, Businessman, Senior Technician, among others, in the Public Sector ( municipal chambers, municipal companies, public sports administration, educational establishments), in the Private Associative Sector (national sports federations, regional sports associations, sports clubs, sports entities for the disabled), in the Private Profit Sector (health clubs/wellness centers, golf courses, SADs, event companies, leisure and sports tourism companies, media bodies, training entities) and in International Organizations.
