Course Overview
Its main objective is to contribute to the advancement of theoretical, methodological and empirical knowledge in the fields of sociology, with particular emphasis on knowledge of the Portuguese and European reality, and in particular with regard to the dynamics of social, political and cultural transformation of these societies, as well as to the promotion of conditions for the application of this knowledge in contexts of administrative and technical intervention.

Specific Entry Requirements
The PhD Programme in Sociology is preferably addressed to graduates and masters in Sociology or in courses in the area of social sciences and humanities from Portuguese or foreign universities.
Preference is given to holders of a Master's degree or legal equivalent, or a post-graduate diploma in Sociology, related and/or other areas, duly recognized by the CAE of this Sociology PhD course, with a mark of 14 (fourteen) or more.
All candidates on serialization process with a final grade of 15 (fifteen) or less, will be excluded.
Failure to attend the screening application interview will result in the exclusion of the applicant.
