This curricular unit was designed with the purpose of endowing students with fundamental theoretical tools that would allow an integrative understanding of human development and the promotion of practical competencies.
At the end of this curricular unit students will be able to:
- Describe the main theoretical models and research methods to study human development.
- Identify the impact of hereditary and environment in child's development
- Characterize the prenatal period
- Describe, in a systemic and integrative way, the developmental sequence and the acquisitions and processes involved during childhood and adolescence
- Analyze and discuss the thematic approached reflexive and critically.
At the end of this curricular unit students will be able to:

Teaching Methods
The approach to the syllabus will be based on a permanent articulation between theory, investigation and psychological practices. In theoretical classesAnalyze there will be an exposition of the main conceptual aspects. In the practical classes will be the discussion, reflection and analysis of practical situations and / or scientific articles, that allow to deepen the knowledge about the themes under study.
In the tutorial orientation is done the monitoring and support to the works and the study of the students.
Continuous assessment will have 3 main components: A test of global learning (40%); 3 individual or group work focusing on observation and contact with children; Participation in the classes and the accomplishment of the respective works. The work, participation in the classes and completion of the work will correspond to 60%.
The exam assessment consists of a written test (60%) and 2 written papers (20% each).
