Presentation

Students should develop a topic in the area of Mathematics, Economics or Management applied to the real world, by performing a research project or by participating in a internship.

To study a subject in the area of the Mathematics, Economics or Management and to dominate their skills of communication.
Develop critical skills, analytical, deductive and formalization applied to a specific theme.
Working individually, in accordance with the standard formal and institutional international requirements.
Develop pre-scientific writing skills, covering all stages of the scientific method: observation, data collection, hypothesis, model building, validation or inference conclusions.
To be able to discuss the working topic in the context of oral presentation and seminarial discussion.
To Develop interest on applied research, seeking to develop applications in real and fundamental contexts by solving a specific problem.
It is also intended that the student at this stage already has the use of English as the working language. The essay may eventually be written in English.

Contents

Research and writing of a short monograph, according to the standards and practices of academic writing.
The development of the essay will be done at two levels, at the conceptual and theoretical level with the appropriate critical and analytical framework, and also with the applied level by using the mathematics tools applied to economics and management.

Teaching Methods

Evaluation of a written report and a public presentation.
The grading is a weighted average of the final oral presentation (30%) and the essay writing with weight decreasing according to the following criteria: rigour (25%), originality (20%) synthesis (15%) and Form (10% .)
It is predict up to two periods of intermediate presentation of progress reports (at least two over six months), signaling the final evaluation.
