CIPC's mission is to be a top tier research center in Political Science in Portugal. With this in mind, and to continue to lead the FCT's ranking with the classification of EXCELLENT, it has centralised two of the best R&D units in Portugal in this scientific field for the common use of resources and human capital, working closely in political science sub-fields. Coincidentally, these two units belong to the University of Minho. This institution aims to be the best in the field of social sciences and humanities. The merged CICP units will make every effort to carry out their mission in line with a five-year strategic programme, from 2015 to 2020 (NEAPP and NICPRI merged in 2015, as part of the strategic plan for these individual units).
