The main objective is to transfer knowledge to the students about the different equipment for mechanical olive harvesting. Students are made aware of the importance of different aspects of the orchard when harvesting technology is to be selected.
At the end of this curricular unit students are able to define what mechanical olive harvesting system should be selected according to the particular characteristics of the olive orchard.

Contents
Support equipment for manual harvesting of olives;
Equipment for mechanical harvesting of olives and their adequacy to the different olive orchards;
Handling and storage equipment for olives inside the farm

Teaching Methods
In presentation of technology (with invited speakers, whenever possible), complemented by real olive grove harvesting in selected olive producers of the region.
Evaluation
Two written reports from practical work performed in real harvesting operation + an essay about a specific equipment or methodology for mechanical olive harvesting.
Final result are obtain as followed:
Final result = 35% of report nº 1 + 35% of report nº 2 x 0.35 + 30% of essay
