This master's program aims to train professionals with a technical and scientific profile suited to the ever-increasing demand for specialists in olive growing and olive oil, in order to meet the needs of a sector characterized by strong growth, dynamism, and a high adoption of cutting-edge technology. The curriculum is designed to ensure a consolidation of knowledge on sustainable olive grove production systems, cultivation techniques, genetic resources and breeding, phytosanitary protection, processing technology, olive oil quality, and marketing and sales. The teaching/learning methodologies promote the development of autonomous work, whether individually or in groups, stimulating students' oral and written communication skills, while direct contact with R&D activities, especially those developed at the Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development (MED-University of Évora), enhances their research abilities. The integration of the University of Évora into the country's main olive-producing region and the partnerships developed with leading companies in the sector create the right conditions for quality training, focused on the realities of the sector, benefiting from the most innovative scientific and technological foundations.
The Master's degree in Olive Growing and Olive Oil benefits from the agreement of a Memorandum of Understanding established between the University of Évora and the International Olive Council (IOC), with the aim of promoting academic collaboration, research and development in the field of olive growing and olive oil production.
