Curricular unit designed to give specific training to students of Archaeology and Environment.

Objectives: Provide students the necessary knowledge to understand the Archaeological Heritage as environmental factor and the mechanisms of their evaluation and the ability to undertake evaluation studies sheets.

Skills: 1. Knowledge of legislation relating to the assessment of impacts on cultural heritage; 2. Ability to apply the techniques of impact assessment; 3. Capacity to prepare reports and EIA.

Contents

1 The legislative framework of the Environmental Impact Assessment: national and Community legislation. Specific legislation in the field of heritage. Critical analysis of existing legislation.
2 The legal instruments of Planning
3 Environmental Impact Study: General Steps
5. Specific methodology for estimating the impact on heritage:
6. The Descriptor Archaeological heritage
7. The archaeological prospection in EIAs
8. The Post-Assessmen Environmental Impact t: compliance assessment, monitoring and audits.

Teaching Methods

Oral transmission of knowledge with the support of audio-visual methods. Research and exploration of bibliographic information and legislative. Discussions with the students. Individual and group sessions to support the implementation of monographs and group work.

The assessment, continuous, should be implemented through the development of a practical assessment (EIA, 50%), a frequency(50%) and participation of students in class. Final exam according the art.º 50 in RAUE.
