Course Overview

The 2nd cycle in Archaeology presents a curricular structure of interdisciplinary vocation built from an axis of competences within the field of knowledge of Archaeology. It is understood as a specialised training, which allows students to recognise the permanent dialogue between human occupation and the interaction with the surrounding environment. To this end, it has a wide range of contents, allowing students to become aware of the incorporation of technical and interpretative processes that decode the interaction between agents and the landscape. To achieve the proposed goals, students incorporate a set of competences based on the teaching of a structuring Archaeology matrix, with theoretical training in the classroom and fieldwork in the Archaeology Laboratory and in field classes. To achieve our goals, the curricular structure brings together teachers from various areas related to the physical and social interpretation of the environment and the landscape, giving this cycle of studies a marked originality in the national panorama.

Archaeology and Environment Companies: Environmental Impact Studies (EIA); archaeological excavations; archaeological surveys; data processing in Geographic Information Systems (GIS); Academic and Scientific research: study of settlement models and evolution processes of ancient societies; studies of archaeological materials; digital cartography; Public and private institutions: senior technical functions; advisory in offices; coordination and management and fieldwork and materials deposits; Tourism and Heritage companies: content production; preparation of itineraries and proposals for territorial management; creation and processing of archaeological and heritage data and information

Specific Entry Requirements

Degree in Archeology; Degree in History and Archaeology; Degree in History - Archaeology; 1st Cycle in Archaeology: 1st Cycle in History with path / minor in Archaeology. Archaeologists under DR Nº. 28/97 of 21 July. Other relevant formations in the area.
