The aim of this course is to provide students with comprehensive knowledge through exposing and debating relevant and current topics in Health and Technologies, with renowned guest speakers. Some of these speakers were involved in the creation of technology-based spin-offs; the choice by these teachers aims to demonstrate how new technologies and scientific knowledge can be valued and transfered to the market in the form of new services or technological tools. Within the scope of the doctoral program in Sciences and Technologies in Health and Wellbeing, this curricular unit aims to stimulate students in searching new fields of specialization with socio-economic relevance.

Contents

Thematic semminars will be framed within the following subjects:
Management of patient safety in healthcare.
Healthcare quality and innovation.
Biomechanics in Health.
Neurocognitive systems and health technologies.
Health diagnostic technologies.
Cell and gene therapy technology.
Health information technology.
Health technology services and devices.

Teaching Methods

Seminars will be conducted by experts from distinct areas of health sciences, enabling students to know, contact and discuss different experiences in several areas of health sciences.
Final evaluation will include a final examination with open questions about any of the thematics presented during the seminars (80%). Attendance will also be considered for final valuation (20%). Presence in the examination is conditional to attendance to at least 2/3 of the seminars.
