Presentation

The UC makes it possible to promote in the students the valuation of the qualitative approach in research, intending that the students are able to articulate the theoretical and practical concepts of qualitative methodologies, recognizing the specificity of the inherent techniques and their different contexts of application.

Sustainable Development Goals

Learning Goals

This course aims to promote the students' appreciation for the qualitative approach in epidemiological research. It is intended that students be able to articulate the theoretical and practical concepts of qualitative methodologies, recognizing the specificity of the techniques involved and their different contexts of application. Thus, it is intended that students be able to:
1. Identify the characteristics of different research paradigms and methodologies and to realize the differences between qualitative versus quantitative methodologies
2. Understand the principles and conceptual contexts of application of qualitative
methodology
3. Know and apply the key processes of information collection in qualitative
methodology.
4. Implement specific techniques for collecting, handling and analysing qualitative data.
5. Develop skills that enables them to perform qualitative research
