Learning Goals

With this course it is expected that the student is able to identify the main concepts associated with information technologies in the organizational context and describing the specifics to be considered in their management. By the end of this course the student should be able to:
* Describe the main elements that integrate the universe of information technologies in the organizational context;
* Identify the main impacts resulting from the introduction / use of information technologies in organizational life;
* Distinguish the particularities associated with the management of information technologies in organizational context.
In terms of the skills, with this course the student should obtain the following skills:
* Domain of specific terminology of information technologies;
* Ability to evaluate different solutions based on information technologies.

Contents

1. Information technologies: the basic concepts.
2. The impact of information technologies in the organizations.
3. The management of information technologies.

Teaching Methods

The classroom sessions are theoretical and practical, combining theoretical exposition of the concepts with their application and description of real cases. Sessions include discussion of case studies, analysis of ideas, presentation of real cases of organizations that have introduced information technologies, small works and sharing of experiences and discussion. It is also planned the presentation of real cases by businessmen/managers.
The contents of the sessions, the program and other documentation supporting the lecturing of the course, will be provided to students on the platform of e-learning at the University of Évora, www.moodle.uevora.pt, established to support the teachings of the University of Évora.
In continuous evaluation the student carry out a working group (40%) and an individual written exam (60%) in a regime of examination, the student will perform only one test (100%).
