Learning Goals

- Framing education in the context of the human and social sciences.
- To identify the themes and analysis models in the studies developed in this area and currently under debate.
- To know the main lines and projects of investigation in course in the institutional context in which the course develops.
- Reflect on the multiplicity of factors that contribute to the analysis of educational practice and the role of innovation.

Contents

1. Broad lines approach to the 'state of the art' of the current debate in Education.
2. Themes and analysis models transversal to current issues in Education.

Teaching Methods

This curricular unit, besides the coordination and dynamization of the teachers directly involved, also counts on the participation of different specialists, from the University of Évora or other institutions. The approach to the themes considered provides moments of exposure, followed by a period of extended debate. On the other hand, it encourages the reading of relevant texts and their collective discussion, always seeking to establish multiple relations with the different dimensions of Education and links between educational theory and practice, using students’ professional reality.
Assessment is based on two main elements: (i) participation in the discussions during the sessions (20%), and (ii) individual critical reflection on a scientific paper, according to a guide provided (80%). This work includes feedback by the teacher.
