Presentation

The course intends to discuss and critically analyze the assumptions, approaches and practices developed in the theater, education and theater and community theater, reflecting on the field of work and performance of the actor / director in these contexts, as well about their transversal skills.

Students should:
- Understand and identify the concepts involved in the scope of theater education and theater in community contexts.
- Know and identify the main theatrical, aesthetic, educational and psycho-social contributions inherent to the intervention of the actor / director.
- Know and apply techniques and methods of theatrical work in educational and community contexts.
- Identify the heterogeneity of contexts of artistic and theatrical action and its articulation with the construction of knowledge and the promotion of well-being.
-Problem the articulation of performative creation processes with social and educational objectives
They must also demonstrate the following competencies:
- Recognize aesthetic, ethical and political principles as structuring of community theater intervention.
- Mobilize pedagogical principles and strategies that provide significant artistic and theatrical action
-Design and plan theater projects in different contexts.

Contents

. Artistic / theatrical, educational purposes and socio-cultural and community principles: objectives; models and methods.
. Perspectives and main references of approaches in theater education and theater and community
. Education Theater and related communities: Ethical and aesthetic assumptions; Contributions of critical pedagogy; Learning processes and construction of shared knowledge; Worldviews, politics, participation and negotiation.
.Actor / director as facilitator and artistic mediator
.Diversity of meanings and practices: Drama, Dramatic Expression, Social Theater, Theater Applied Theater, Theater and participation.
.Specific methodologies for specific groups: Active and participatory techniques; Collective creation, Devising; Theater-debate; Play-back theater, Documentary theater.
.Theatre Project - Planning, intervention and evaluation

Teaching Methods

Practical / reflective methodologies articulated will be privileged:
Specific projectual and pedagogical approaches in the contexts of education and community theater;
Cross-cutting conceptual approach, aiming at understanding and critically analyzing the cultural, social, ethical and aesthetic implications of theatrical action in different contexts;

Continuous assessment regime that will consist of the following assessment elements:

- Participation and critical sense - 30%;
- Individual portfolio that reflects the learning and experience carried out in the educational and community areas - 40%
- Conception and planning of Theater Project in educational / community context and reasoning of options - 30%
