Presentation

Researching in education is a professional challenge, which allows creating conditions for the regulation of teaching practices and improvement of children's learning. This UC is dedicated to developing the competence to investigate with children in context, providing tools and reflection.

O1. To understand the importance and role of research in education and the nature of the knowledge produced;
O2. To understand the main paradigms in research, the main approaches to research, and relevant designs of research for the educational context;
O3.To understand the methodological planning of research and to know the methods and techniques to employ in its concretization, from the problem formulation to the conclusions and its dissemination;
O4. To know strategies, techniques and instruments for data collection and data analysis;
O5. To understand Childhood Education as context and object of research and to know the recent research developed in that domain;
O6. To develop an inquiry attitude towards the professional practice understanding research as a resource for practice improvement and professional development.

Teaching Methods

The methodologies call for the involvement of students, imply carrying out diverse tasks, of a varied nature, and contemplate multiple forms of work, namely the development of research activity associated with the contexts of student insertion.

The assessment follows the general rules in force in the EU.
It is mandatory to attend 75% of classes.
The student worker must contact the teacher within 15 days after obtaining this condition.
The Continuous Assessment Scheme values ​​formative assessment and includes the elements:
A - Participation in activities (0.2)
B - Individual written work, subject to feedback and possibility of improvement (0.8)
The Final Evaluation Scheme (exam) serves students who have opted for this modality or who have not obtained a rating higher than 10 in B in the Continuous Evaluation Scheme. The exam consists of a written test.
