Students are invited to perform different tasks in real farm context. This practical experience greatly enhance the knowledge and awareness of real problems.
Contents
Each week the activity of each group of students is linked to the routine programme of the university farm. Each group is responsible for the performance of a specific task, which includes: implement coupling to the tractor; setting up the implement; perform the task; implement and tractor cleaning, maintenance and parking.
Teaching Methods
Performance of practical tasks with farm machinery supervised by the teacher
Evaluation:
Two field tests performed with agricultural machinery;
A written report for each where the student describe the task performed, work rates produced and point out improvements for future work.
Final result is obtained as followed:
Final result = 25% of field test nº 1 + 25% of field test nº 2 + 50% of the average of written reports.
