It is intended that students will: understand the general themes and framework of financing with risk capital; qualified to implement innovative ideas; and, to know the operating mechanisms of the risk capital market.
The following skills are also developed:

- Capacity for abstraction, model building and critical thinking;
- Capacity for oral and written expression and ability to transmit and receive ideas and information;
- Ability to investigate.

Module 1 - Overview and framing of venture capital and financing innovation.

Module 2 - The financial structure of venture capital financing.

Module 3 - The evaluation of investments in venture capital and value addition.

Module 4 - The exit and investment cycles in venture capital.

Teaching Methods

Classes are theoretical-practical, with exposure to the themes underlying venture capital and the process of financing innovative ideas. They are supported by powerpoint presentations, material available on the Moodle e-learning platform (also used to promote greater contact and interaction and self-learning). The critical spirit of students in questioning reality is promoted, with debates on the work carried out in all classes.
The pedagogical model is based on: teaching centered on student learning; in the development of disciplinary and transversal skills; in the use of digital resources as learning and management tools communication and flexibility; in self-regulatory assessment practices for student learning; at articulation of teaching and research; and in the relationship with the community.
The form of assessment allows the consolidation of knowledge and development of skills.

Assessment

The final grade of the Curricular Unit is obtained:
- under a continuous assessment regime by carrying out: group work (analysis and debate of one (or more) real case study on financing with risk capital) (40%); an individual assessment test (50%); and, small individual works with discussion in the classroom (10%).
- in a final assessment regime by carrying out: group work (analysis and debate of one (or more) real case study on financing with risk capital) (40%); an individual assessment test (60%).

It should be noted that the validation of the minimum grade (seven values) will be applied at each assessment moment.
