Contents

The syllabus may change from year to year acording to lecturers’ research interests, but includes some of the following topics:
- Formal Approaches to Analysis
- Schenkerian Analysis
- Psychological Approaches to Analysis
- Analysis of Recorded Musical Performance

Teaching Methods

In the classroom:
- Seminars: introducing topics and key concepts.
- Practical exercises: working together with students on selected examples.
- Small group teaching: students are asked to arrange themselves into groups and work together under the teacher’s guidance.

Teaching aids: video-projector, computer-based presentations.

Assessment:
Students can choose between:

Continuous Assessment:
- Weekly assignments (40%)
- Written examination of two hours’ duration (40%)
- Submission of an essay of about 2000 words (20%)

Final exam
- Written examination of two hours’ duration (80%)
- Submission of an essay of about 2000 words (20%)
