Learning Goals

Objectives
The objective of this curricular unit is the creation of a project aiming to promote and enhance the value of
cultural heritage. In this project, the students will be able to put into practice the knowledge and
competences acquired within the other curricular units. Whenever possible this work will be based on a
short internship in an institution linked with Cultural Heritage.
Competences:
The capacity to assess the patrimonial value of different objects and buildings of the various historical
periods; to comprehend the form by which the valorization of this Heritage may contribute for a better
understanding the cultural diversity; the knowledge of all stages necessary for the development of projects
meant to promote and enhance the value of Cultural Heritage; the capacity to elaborate such projects and
to develop research in this area.

Contents

1. Presentation of the theoretical aspects in the development of projects aiming to promote and increase
the value of Cultural Heritage;
2. Analysis and selection of objects and structures linked to Cultural Heritage;
3. Orientation of study, based scientific investigation, of an asset or a group of assets (architectural, real or
personal property, integrated, intangible), which will originate a project for its management and
valorization.
4. Case analysis.

Teaching Methods

Oral transmission of knowledge enhanced by audio-visual methods and study visits. Debates with the
students. Sessions to support the development of individual and group projects and to support the stage
(which will be realized whenever is possible). In each of the sessions, one or more students will present
specific development issues of their work, in relation to questions regarding all. In these sessions,
theoretical issues relating to the presented subject matter will be debated.
Evaluation: Presentation of reports of the seminar’s study visits. Oral and written presentation of a
proposal for a research project
