Sustainable Development Goals

Learning Goals

Introduce the concepts and fundamental laws of classical mechanics and thermodynamics;
Extrapolate these concepts to the understanding of situations where living things and their interaction with the environment play a central role;
Develop skills to analyze, consider and solve problems involving the understanding of physical concepts studied and the application of simple mathematical algorithms;
Encourage the development of attitudes of responsibility, autonomy in the construction of knowledge;
Introduce and apply methods and techniques involving fundamental experimental work at the levels of: measurement, data processing and interpretation of results.

Chapter 1. Physics as a science and Review of fundamental physics-mathematical concepts;
Chapter 2. Space and Time - motion of the particle
Chapter 3. Dynamics of particle;
Chapter 4. Work and Energy;
Chapter 5. Dynamic of particle system;
Chapter 6. Static;
Chapter 7. Deformation and elasticity;
Chapter 8. Fluids;
Chapter 9. Thermodynamics;
Chapter 10. Heat and Mass Transfer.

Teaching Methods

The teaching is structured by means of lectures, problem-solving and laboratory classes where the conceptual and application skills are integrated.
In the lectures, are presented the contents of the syllabus and proposed some applications of such content; problem-solving classes, which are in conjunction with lectures, Will be proposed a series of problems to resolved; in the laboratory classes the student develop practical skills by conducting experiments to understanding some topics of the program. The theoretical evaluation (75%) may be taken or by performing two tests or by a final exam. The practical assessment (25%) relates to the proposed laboratory modules.
The final grade will be the weighted average of the 2 components.
