Presentation

Both therapeutic intervention and scientific research require careful observation. In this CU it is intended to develop knowledge and research competencies using the Observational Methodology, oriented to the study of Psychomotor Expression.

Sustainable Development Goals

Learning Goals

Goals:
1. Know the fundamentals of Observational Methodology of Psychomotor expression (PE);
2. Identify the qualitative and quantitative observational methods of PE;
3. Understand the psychometric qualities of a systematic observation system;
4. Master the different sections of scientific articles from different types of research;
5. Identify the different types of EP research;
6. Know tools to assess the methodological quality of studies.

Skills:
1. Selection of observational methods according to the nature of the study;
2. Selection, adaptation, and creation of systematic observation systems of PE;
3. Application of techniques of data recording and analyses;
4. Assessment of the psychometric qualities of systematic observation systems;
5. Creation of a study design for the different types of PE research.
6. Research in databases;
7. Referencing of information sources;

Teaching Methods

The classes are developed in a condensed regime of theoretical and theoretical-practical classes. Classes are based on the active learning model. Thus, classes involve a brief exposure of contents which students deepen and apply while resolving practical tasks (e.g., analysis of papers on observational methodology, video coding, construction of observation systems, analysis of the methodological quality of studies, discussion of methodologies, etc.) that imply the application of knowledge and the development of competencies with the guidance and supervision of the professors.
Both the continuous evaluation and the evaluation by exam, comprise the delivery of (a) a script of a systematic observation system and (30%) (b) a project to investigate psychomotor expression involving observational methodology (70%).
