Learning Goals

The main objective is to provide the student with knowledge about the planning and management of hospitality procedures. At the end of the semester the student has the following skills:
Understand the role of hospitality in a historical continuum; Identify the importance of hospitality in the tourism context; Recognize the importance of interpersonal relations as a key factor of hospitality in a tourism scope; Identify several stakeholders involved on a hospitality planning and operating process; Develop hospitality actions and initiatives in different sectors of Tourism, such as accommodation units; travel agencies; recreation companies and hosting visitors at tourist attractions; Public tourist information offices.

Teaching Methods

Subjects and contents will be approached through theoretical and practical lessons, not only
using an expositive method, but also fomenting the dialogue and the debate to deepen the
knowledge of the different contents.
Students are thus encouraged to identify additional sources of information to those
indicated for each theme that should appeal not only to traditional instruments as well as to
research technological means, particularly in the use of search engines on the Internet for
obtaining references, texts, articles, dictionary entries and relevant international studies.
Assessment methods will be conducted, over individual written tests and / or individual or
group working papers.
