Learning Goals

The capacity for economic analysis and management is increasingly determining the strategy, conduct and performance of individuals, companies, institutions and countries.
This course aims to provide students with economic analysis and management skills, at the level of activity in veterinary medical services on the following topics: the supply, demand and market of veterinary medical services; the evaluation of animal health plans and programs; the dimensions of management of a service centre and the provision of medical and veterinary services; and its application in the planning and creation of a veterinary medical care centre.

Teaching Methods

The teaching methodology, in both modules, includes the presentation of the subjects, and the elaboration of application exercises and critical reading of texts that simulate the real life of the veterinary medicine sector and situations close to the professional reality that the students will encounter in the future.
Each teaching time is divided, for this purpose, into two, the first of exposure and the second, in the classroom or in the computer lab, where exercises and cases of application of the concepts are solved.
It is intended that the classes are periods of contact time, with the teachers and among the students themselves, stimulating and shared, promoting spontaneous and critical participation of the students to stimulate enthusiasm and group reflection.
Assessment regime: 1) continuous assessment consists of 1 written test (50%) and one essay (50%) and 2) final exam consists of a written test.
