Learning Goals

This course will provide an opportunity for the students to engage in a complete a laboratory research project under supervision.
Student's project may be developed according to different models:
Scientific project proposal;
Start-up project Human Biology-related, with a state of the art review related with one scientific theme relevant to the projected business.
Work in professional environment, with a state of the art review related with one scientific theme relevant to the work done;
It is expected that the students have:
The capacity to use and integrate knowledge in the various courses of their degree;
Developed skills in the appropriate and selective use of library resources;
Gained experience in the collation, analysis and presentation of scientific data.
Prepared and submitted a detailed report, in a scientifically acceptable format.
The ability to prepare and give a short oral presentation describing the salient features of a research paper and
to answer questions.

Contents

Monograph, Project or Work in professional environment in a choosen / offered subject in any area of Human Biology. It consists in an individual project.
Syllabus according to students choice given the Objectives (3.3.4).

Teaching Methods

Supervision of the entire work will be done by a member of the student's project supervisor. At the start of the semester each student will present to the course responsible a written description of the work he/she intends to accomplish. The proposal must describe the main goals and ways to attain them and present acceptance letters by the supervisor and co-supervisor. In case that work environment work is chosen, the proposal must also include acceptance letters from the appropriate person of the research or company.
A written paper and an oral presentation are mandatory in agreement with the terms stated in Objectives (3.3.4). Final grade will be decided by a panel comprising the supervisor, co-supervisor and teaching staff of the course.
