The curricular unit aims to provide students with a context of learning, reflection and sharing that is appropriate and favorable to the construction of thesis projects.

1. To know the scientific and pedagogical dimensions of the doctoral program’s formation and its relevance to the educational process contained in the curricular component
2. To understand the academic organization of the doctoral program and the norms of the academic regulations that determine the course of formation;
3. To analyze research projects carried out in contexts of elaboration of doctoral theses;
4. To elaborate and present critical reflections arising from the processes of analysis of research projects carried out in the context of the elaboration of doctoral theses;
5. To select the theme to support the development of the thesis project, taking into account the personal interests and possibilities offered by the research lines under development in the institution;
6. To elaborate the thesis plan, taking into account the existing institutional model ;
7. To present the plan of the thesis and accept the suggestions and recommendations made, aiming to its formal registration

Contents

1. Post-graduate training, in a doctoral context: the curricular and thesis components;
2. The particularities of scientific research, in academic contexts of elaboration of doctoral theses;
3. The management of the research course, in contexts of elaboration of doctoral theses;
4. Bibliographic research and available resources for its implementation.
5. The projects of doctoral thesis: design, construction, presentation and discussion.

Teaching Methods

The curricular unit will be carried out, using thematic seminars organized by the teacher and with the participation of the students.
The presentation of examples will be a privileged and concrete approach in moments of presentation and analysis of cases, followed by moments of debate and questioning.
The seminars will be enriched by guests, through the example of their qualification pathways (former students) or the knowledge they can provide (researchers, teachers and specialists). In the second semester, the supervisors of thesis projects will participate.
The evaluation, of a qualitative nature, will be carried out in accordance with the provisions of paragraphs 3, 8, 13 of article 93 of the Academic Regulations of the University of Évora and will result from attendance attendance at the seminars and the construction and presentation of a thesis project proposal, according to the institutional model in force at the University of Évora.
