Contents

1. Child motor development (CMD): a systemic and ecological approach; stages of CMD; perceptual-motor development; development of motor skills and abilities

2. Children's play and life routines: Types of children's play and their evolution; the importance of play in children's development; play in children's life routines

3. The quality and safety of play spaces and play equipment for children: Quality and safety criteria; the educational potential of outdoor spaces; risky play

4. Physical Education (PE), children's health and health education: Effects of PA on children's health; the role of PE on health education; play and sports practices in children's lives

5. Observation and evaluation of children's' play and CMD

6. Play and CMD in the pedagogical intervention: Promoting play behaviors, motor competence, physical activity and health; adaptations for inclusive contexts; assessment of the educational environment

Teaching Methods

Theoretical-practical classes: Oral presentation; analysis and discussion of supporting texts; group discussion and participatory debate on topics with a more reflective orientation; participation of guests; watching and discussing videos; visit to an outdoor space for children; individual and/or group research guided by the professor.
Moodle will be used to allow students access to documentation and pedagogical resources used in classes, bibliography and work proposals for evaluation.

Continuous assessment:
- Group work with oral presentation and discussion (70%). Research, analysis and reflection on one of the themes covered in class. The selection of themes must be diverse to cover a wide range of contents.
- Worksheets carried out during classes or related to the covered topics (30%).

Final assessment regime: Written (50%) and oral (50%) exam.
