This UC promotes a multifactorial and operational approach to elderly care provision, considering the formal and informal caregiver perspectives. The UC addresses actual models for elderly well-being promotion and, also, violence prevention.

Teaching Methods

The teaching methodologies aim for students to develop skills of analysis, reflection and planning on the different domains that make up the provision of care for the elderly. Through the exposition, discussion and presentation of cases and testimonies, it is intended to encourage the active participation of students and their constant intervention in the process, leading to the acquisition of knowledge and skills that allow them to understand the social, community and family processes inherent to the provision of care to this population, from the assessment of functionality to active aging and violence prevention. In these teaching methodologies, spaces for individual and group reflection and the use of group work techniques, reading and research oriented to the different themes of the program will be central.
Continuous assessment has two components: an individual work and a group work, corresponding respectively to 50% and 50% of the final grade of the UC.
