The curricular unit Urban and Rural Tourism is a compulsory discipline of the 1st year of the Master in Tourism and Development of Products and Destinations, which aims to provide students with essential knowledge regarding the specificities of Rural Tourism and Urban Tourism products.

The themes to be taught in this course intend that students acquire a solid body of knowledge and a set of techniques and methodologies that allow them to be able to:
Know and discuss the concepts associated with rural tourism and urban tourism
Identify and explain how specifics of rural and urban tourism
Identify and assess the importance of tourist resources in the areas
Know the characteristics of demand and research trends in these areas
Understand the set of opportunities that tourism in rural and urban areas represents for these types of destinations
Comprehensive how it applies and the relevance of the concepts of sustainability, creativity and cultural tourism to the development of rural and urban touris
Know and discuss the concepts associated with rural tourism and urban tourism

Teaching Methods
The course will be taught through theoretical exposition related to the general contents of each thematic unit, complemented with the analysis and discussion of case studies (mainly through the use of scientific articles) and, if possible, seminar sessions with speakers, as well as field trips. There will also exist practical sessions to guide the assignment to be completed by the students, individually and/or in groups, both during classes and tutorials.

There are two evaluation types:
