Learning Goals

The learning outcomes of this course are: to develop critical skills (in bibliography reading and analysis), and to promote problem-based learning (analysis of a real problem, formulating hypotheses, planning research and proposing solutions), while applying previous knowledge in the investigation of issues in the area of Biochemistry.
It is also intended to stimulate scientific curiosity and promote the development of scientific culture through participation in seminars, lectures or conferences.
At the end of this course the student should be able to present a properly structured work (written and oral), with a critical description of the main activities and strategies performed, and finish the course enabled to perform independent laboratory work.

Contents

The work program, as well as its accomplishment, will be defined by the student, under the supervision of their supervisor, including choice of a theme, experimental work planning and presentation of results.
Conferences (conference cycles) organized in diverse topics in the area of Biochemistry annually.

Teaching Methods

The student should carry out bibliography revision and laboratory work, under the guidance of the supervisor, within the scope of a specific problem, carried out individually, favouring the student's active learning processes, applying previous knowledge in the investigation of a problem in the field of Biochemistry.
Participation in mandatory seminars, lectures or conferences (minimum 6 throughout the year).


Evaluation:
1st moment: Presentation of a written report of the project and proposed work plan for dissertation (to be submitted before the registration of the project in the SIIUE), 45.0%.
2nd moment: Oral presentation of the progress of the work performed (at the end of the semester, during the exam period), 45.0%.
Participation in seminars, lectures or conferences - 10%.
