This course has the main objective of providing students with methodological knowledge about the various stages of the research process in Economics, leading them in the elaboration of several scientific works, particularly their doctoral thesis. It is intended that they learn to identify the relevant results of the research process and produce the first version of their thesis proposal.
The competences acquired by the students are the capacities of defining, producing and presenting work of scientific nature.
It is also intended to familiarize students with the research environment of the host institutions of the doctoral program.

Teaching Methods
Most of the sessions are occupied with discussions of topics relevant to the development of research work. The remainder is for attending seminars, or conference sessions, promoted by the research centers to which the professors assigned to the doctoral program belong, followed by an analysis of the topics covered and the form of scientific communication observed at these events.
According to the objectives of the seminar, the evaluation of the acquisition of competences will take into account the active participation in the discussion of the topics under consideration during the classes (25%) and the written presentation of a first version of the thesis project (75%).
