Learning Goals

The students will learn the fundamentals of acting technique, based on the Stanislavski System and his followers. The work should belong to the so called Psychologic Realism from A. Tchekov to our times.
The student will be introduced to the dramaturgical analysis as well as the aesthetical, cultural, social and historical background of the author and his/her work.
The work will connect the analysis of the main theory with its practical aplication.
The students will be able to recognize and practice the fundamentals of Stanislavski’s lexic: ‘objectives’ and ‘super-objectiv’; ‘sub-scenes’; ‘motivations’; ‘sub-text’; characterization; and character’s defense et als.
His/Her work will devellop through techniques of improvisation and inter-acting.
It will be paramount that the students acquire the capacity to take directions, as na outcome of the dramaturgical and directorial approach.

Contents

1 – The work’s context
2 – Dramaturgical analysis and characterization
3 – Analysis and practical exercises on Stanislavski’s The Actor’s Work. Focusing on the techniques of concentration, relaxation, active analysis, ‘super-objective’, sub-scenes, physical actions, attention circles and character’s objectives.
4- Interpretation of chosen scenes through improvisation
5 – Blocking Rehearsals
6 – Presentation/open class

Teaching Methods

Methodologies -Reading and dramaturgical analysis of the work, considering its aesthetical, social and semiotic aspects, Reading and comment of the work by C. Stanislavski ‘An actor prepares’, Scenic work: Psycho-physical warm-up; Exercises based on Stanislavski’s techniques; Improvisations on the scenes; Text assimilation; Interpretation and blocking; Presentation/Open class

EVALUATION:
Class attendance, punctuality, and team spirit – 20%
Commitment, evolution and creativity – 20%
1- Quality of contribution to the dramaturgical analysis and written paper 10%
2- Presentation of improvised scenes – 10%
3- Presentation with text – 10%
4- Public presentation – Open 20%
On the 3rd and 4th moments of evaluation the students will make a self-evaluation with the juri’s presence.
