Learning Goals
To understand historically the contemporary art from the avant-gardes of the first quarter od the 20th century to
the present, by the movements, trends, works of art and authors that marked the artistic creation in the period
under consideration, from an international and national perspective. Its intended that students will be able to
contextualize the artistic facts and their protagonists in their historical circumstances, to characterize their
diversity and their specificities, to identify the mechanisms of conception, production, diffusion and exhibition
of the works of art, and to analyse its reception and its impact on the contemporary artistic culture and on the
current notions of art. The historical perspective of contemporary art should promote the development of
methodological, critical and analytical skills.

Teaching Methods
Expository teaching of key content, using teaching aids, leading to the confrontation with the artistic achievements.
Oriented monitoring of the learning progress and the expression of knowledge. The lectures will include
sessions where students will be asked to analyze and discuss some very important works of art and texts. Study
visits.
The student can choose between the continuous process and the exam. The continuous process includes two
tests (35%+35%) and a paper or a theoretical exercise (30%).
Exam and Final Exam (100%).
