Presentation

This course aims to transmit and develop in students, knowledge and skills related to the importance of PA, and in particular Physical Exercise, as a resource to increase the population's quality of life, and can be a means of prevention for a wide range of pathologies.

It is intended that students:
- Know the major benefits associated with regular practice of physical exercise.
- Understand the mechanisms that underlie the various physiological adaptations and their benefits that these adaptations may bring in terms of health for the population.
- It is intended that students can take into account changes that occur in the human body, and that the associated content from other UCs of the course.
- Can collect and interpret critically relevant scientific information on the topics addressed.
- Are capable of analyse and discuss ideas and scientific knowledge about the course in oral and written forms.

5. Risks associated with physical activity levels
6. Primary, secondary and tertiary prevention
7. How to measure the health and related indicators
8. How to measure the results of health interventions

Teaching Methods

The unit is organized into lectures and tutorials according to the regulation school of the University of Évora.
Lectures are plenary and based on the scientific method, emphasizing the search for information, the interpretation of experimental results and a critical and scientific rigor in students.
Evaluation: Students may choose an evaluation by a frequency or a final exam.
Despite the work attendance is essential to success in the course, relevance will be aslo given to working at distance. This will be done primarily through the provision of resources in Moodle (lessons, various texts, PowerPoint presentations, websites, etc.). Student work will be guided by specific objectives to be achieved in different syllabus.
