Learning Goals
The classes aim to provide theoretical and practical references in the context of Packaging Design, it is intended that the student understands the context and strategies of positioning the packaging in relation to the market. Be able to develop and apply visual languages to solve project problems, master the concepts of color, typography and graphic design in accordance with the possibilities and limitations of packaging production processes, such as manufacturing, printing, distribution and marketing.
Be able to plan and choose the available production / printing resources and processes, to make the Packaging Design project feasible in an effective and original way. Be able to follow the packaging development process, from the briefing to the presentation of the project for its production.

Teaching Methods
Based on a series of structured lessons, may resort to the Department's projects of research, commercial,
competitions, conferences, seminars, workshops and discussion groups. Professionals covering a wide
range of areas of experience and personal approaches develop the manuals. Aims to establish a good
balance between new digital media, and traditional ones. Classes may resort to: documentary films;
referential visits to classes; field trips to industrial (re) production places, studios or communication
agencies.
Ongoing evaluation will take into account: regular attendance; participation in the activities; the
correct methological development; observance of deadlines; the knowledge and practice progresses. The
final evaluation is a time of general assessment of the journey performed by the student, based on its
ability to respond to the brief, specifically in the quality of execution, presentation and communication skills.

In NORMAL SEASON students can choose the Continuous Assessment or Final Assessment regimes.
The APPEAL, SPECIAL and EXTRAORDINARY SEASONS are guided by the Final Assessment regime.
CONTINUOUS EVALUATION:
a) Participation in classes: 20%;
b) Work developed in classes with the supervision of the teacher and subject to, at least, periodic evaluation: 40%;
c) Presentation and defense of work carried out in classes: 40%.

b) Test on the subject contents 60%.
