Contents

Study of works of instrumental/vocal repertoire; concep and realiz of chamber/ensemble music projects OR particip in orchestra proj | concepand realiz of compositional proj.
Knowledge of techniques, didactic mater and repert concerning beginners’ level:
1.Generic correct position of the instrument, posture
2.Specific
a.WINDS breathing, embouchure, pitch
b.STRINGS l.h. placement (basic notions of pitch and tuning), bow placement
c.ACCORDION body posture, bellows and articulation control
c.PIANO hand placement, basic notions of articulation and dynamics
d.GUITAR open strings, basic exercices for r.h. (arpeggios and alternating fingers 2 and 3) and l.h. (scale fragments in the 1st 3 strings and 1st positions)
e.PERCUSSION/DRUMS basic classical technique (effects and specific sounds) and rudiments (marching band). Down/Up/Full stroke
f.VOICE breath, emission, articulation, resonances
g.COMPOSITION basic notions of melody, harmony, form
i.JAZZ binary form, principles rhythmic improvisation

Teaching Methods

Definition of the individual program and bibliography to be worked on, according to each student’s profile. Conception of one chamber /ensemble music project OR participation in an orchestral project. Individual and group lessons (interactive teaching methodology).Complementary activities.
CONTINUOUS EVALUATION: student’s performance, in autonomy, in the classroom and in complementary activities: 20% written essay (and its public presentation) about initiation methods: 20%; public exam before a jury: Interpretation (total: 30 min.): individual (30%) and chamber music / orchestral (30%) performance. Composition: compositional project reflecting the semester’s work: 60%. FINAL EVALUATION: written essay (and its public presentation) about initiation methods: 30%; public exam before a jury: Interpretation (total: 30 min.): individual (35%) AND chamber music/orchestral (35%) performance; Composition: compositional project reflecting the semester’s work: 70%
