To develop the study, the reflection and the debate between teacher and students about certain authors of American Gothic Fiction and their correspondences to the Visual Arts and Cinema.

- Aesthetic Transgressions in American Gothic Fiction and in Contemporary Art
- The perverse artist in Edgar Allan Poes and Nathaniel Hawthornes works.
- No-Sayers in American Art and Literature: the example of Herman Melvilles Bartleby the Scrivener
- The Gothic-Grotesque Vision in American Gothic Fiction and in Contemporary American Art.
- The Expression of Terror in Abstract Expressionist Painting and in American Cinema. (Pollock, Rothko, De Kooning; Alfred Hitchcock, Tim Burton and David Lynch).

Teaching Methods
Use of multidisciplinary practices to stimulate transdisciplinary perspectives; placement of programmatic information in discussion with students; viewing documentaries, films and other cultural expressions that complement the reading of literary and critical reference works.
Evaluation: Students active participation and presence in classes; research abilities; reading and viewing practices; involvement in cultural activities; the quality of written essays and oral presentations in classes (1 test + 1 written research work).
Final Exam Evaluation (1st and 2nd , special and extraordinary calls) consists of a written test (100%). Students who score between 8 and 9.4 on the written test need to do an oral exam.
