The French Language VI (level B2 CEFR) promote the acquisition and development of the oral and written skills (production, reception and interaction), applied to Tourism, vocabulary enhancement and grammar practice.

To study the language as means of professional communication to master the French language applied to Tourism. Understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation; interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Competences: can give detailed descriptions and presentations on a wide range of subjects related to his/her field of interest; can write clear, detailed texts on a variety of subjects related to his/her field of interest; can understand standard spoken language, on both familiar and unfamiliar topics; can read with a large degree of independence using appropriate reference sources selectively; can use the language fluently, accurately and effectively on a wide range of topics; can express news and views effectively in writing, and relate to those of others.

Contents

1. Orality
Oral understanding:.

Oral production:
acting out a rehearsed role;

Oral Interaction:

2. Writing
Written understanding:
Reading for orientation;
Reading for information and argument;

Written production:
writing reports, memoranda, etc.;
writing personal or business letters, etc.

Written Interaction:
negotiating the text of agreements, contracts, communiqués, etc. by reformulating
and exchanging drafts, amendments, proof corrections, etc.;
participating in on-line or off-line computer conferences.

Teaching Methods

According to the descriptors established for the level B2 in the CEFR, the methodology adopted will focus on the acquisition and development of oral and written skills (production, reception and interaction), grammar practice and vocabulary enhancement apply to the study the language as means of professional communication to master the French language applied to Tourism.

According to the Regulamento Académico da Universidade de Évora and the Regulamento de Avaliação de Conhecimentos – Critérios definidos pelo Departamento de Linguística e Literaturas.

Students may choose between two modes of assessment:
Assessment:
(1) Continuous assessment:
a. Written quiz (35%);
b. Oral quiz (25%);
The notes obtained in the written and oral test may not be less than 8 values.
c. Assignments, throughout the semester (20%+20%).
(2) Exam (1st and 2nd, special and extraordinary calls): a. Written exam (60%); b. Oral exam (40%).
