Presentation

Study of the Spanish Language at C1 level through the development of oral and written skills, with theoretical-practical sessions and student participation.

I. Objectives:
· understand with ease virtually everything heard or read; summarise information from different spoken and written sources, reconstructing arguments and accounts in a coherent presentation;
express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in more complex situations.
II. Competences:
A. Oral production: can produce clear.
B. Written production: can write clear.
C. Listening comprehension: has no difficulty in understanding.
D. Reading comprehension: can understand and interpret critically.
E. Spoken interaction: has a good command of idiomatic expressions.
F. Written interaction: can express him/herself with clarity and precision, relating to the addressee flexibly and effectively.
G. Vocabulary: has a good command of a very broad lexical repertoire.
H. Grammar: maintains consistent grammatical control of complex language.

Contents

Expressing advices, suggestions, refusing an action, talking about a regular past action (deberías/podrías haber+participio, deberías/podrías+infinitivo, ¿pero es que siempre has de..?, pasarse el día, la tarde+gerundio, llevar+ gerundio, soler+infinitivo).
Replacing an activity, showing the beginning of an action, unjustified beginning of an action, replying and ending an action (empezar a, ponerse a, darle a uno por, volver a, dejar de+ infinitivo).
Showing worry (past tenses use), expressing intention, hypothesis, courtesy (desde (que), hace/hacia que, al cabo de), asking for agreement (a que+infinitivo), to ensure something is going to happen (Ya +futuro)
Describing and characterising using verbs such as ser, estar, prepositions, commonplaces.
The verbos de cambio (volverse, ponerse...)
Passive with ser and estar and resources to avoid the passive; criticising or refusing other person's behaviour (parece mentira que+ subjuntivo)

Teaching Methods

(1) direct exposure to authentic use of language (through videos, written texts - newspapers, magazines, etc. - Internet, CD-ROM, among others);
(2) direct participation in communicative interaction;
(3) presentations, explanations, exercises/exploitation activities;
(4) translation (native language/foreign language/native language)
(5) individual, pair and group working;
(6) contribution to formal and informal discussions;
(7) guided study;
(8) autodidactically, by self-study.
Students may choose between two modes of assessment: (1) continuous or (2) exam.
(1) Continuous assessment: a. Written quiz (35%); b. Oral quiz (25%); c. Assignments, throughout the semester, in and at home (40%);
(2) Exam: a. Written exam (60%); b. Oral exam (40%).
