The aim of this subject is a practical application to the Portuguese economy of the economic knowledge acquired in others course subjects, with prominence being given to macroeconomic policies of the last 50 years and the challenges of the European Union. The intention is that students will develop their analytical capacities and critical visions of the subjects dealt with. Students must use the analytical instruments acquired in ?Applied Economics? as well as those acquired in this subject, to analyse the indicators of the Portuguese economy in the context of the European Union.

Teaching Methods
Teaching based on theoretical-practical classes, transmission of theoretical knowledge and practical exercises in class. Realization of a theoretical and practical group work to apply the knowledge acquired with real data from the Portuguese and European economy. Presentation of the work in class, with discussion of the content.
Active learning to stimulate the students to extend their knowledge about the Portuguese economic reality.
The elaboration of the group essays, presentation and defense will be regulated by clear rules and the verification by the students will be considered for the evaluation of the essays.

Assessment
1. Assessment Method:
The students are encouraged to opt for continuous assessment, the only method that allows for learning aligned with desired competencies and allows for student monitoring throughout the learning process.
Students must choose between continuous assessment or a final exam at the beginning of the academic year. Failure to take any of the continuous assessment elements will result in opting for the exam method. Failure to pass the continuous assessment or the regular exam will result in an appeal exam.
2. Weighting:
Continuous Assessment:
1st test (30%);
2nd test (40%);
Essay (Group) (30%) [Written Report (20%), Oral Presentation (10%)]
Final Exam: 100%
3. Conditions for Continuous Assessment success:
First Condition: Group Essay Score greater than or equal to 8 points in 20.
Second Condition: The average of the two tests cannot be less than 8 points in 20.
Third Condition: Neither test can have a grade lower than 7 points in 20.
Fourth Condition: Students who meet all three previous conditions and obtain a final weighted average of 10 points in 20 are considered approved.
