Learning Goals

The objectives of this curricular unit are the understanding of architectural design not only as a basis for architectural creation but also as a system of representation, proof and explanation of the architectural idea and object, as well as a means for the intimate expression of the architect's thought.
This development of this premise is substantiated in the following main objectives:
a) Knowledge and mastery of architectural design as a means of representing the architectural idea, just as different times and architects used drawing as a method, resource and expression;
b) Knowledge and mastery of the architectural design and its techniques, in the understanding of the possibilities of appropriation and creative manipulation of the same for the sake of rigor and expressiveness;
c) Knowledge and mastery of architectural design with End in itself, as a differential fact, identity expression and password of the architect's thought.

Contents

a) History of Architectural Design (part II)
The role of architectural design in the History of Art and Architecture continues to be explored; its relation with the singular moments of Human History and the transversal influences of and with other areas of knowledge exploring the contributions of modern and contemporary authors
b) The Descriptive Design (part II)
- Rigorous design: Plant, cut, elevation, detail; matching of drawing parts; coding and presentation;
- Sectioned and exploded axonometric perspective;
- Light, shadow and penumbra; orientation time
- The model as a method of proving spaces, light and scale.

Teaching Methods

Teaching Methodologies:
a) Theoretical classes
b) Practical classes
The evaluation will be ongoing, with personalized weekly reviews. There will be exercises in the and two main practical works, one corresponding to an intermediate delivery and another corresponding to the final work. These works will constitute studies on existing outstanding buildings or reference projects.
