This curricular unit aims to provide students with activities of learning, application and updating of knowledge and knowledge in real situations of the professional and / or academic life of the sector.

Learning Goals

- The Internship aims to provide students learning activities, implementation and updating of knowledge and in real life professional sector, to reinforce and complement the teaching and learning delivered along its route during the five semesters of 1st cycle Studies in Tourism. Depending on your resume and your individual plan of study Student (a) choose one of the tourism areas for a professional experience and also to familiarize yourself with the environment organizational labor market.
- The Research Work corresponds to a study / research, in which (a) Student (a) have to apply knowledge acquired during the course and demonstrate the ability descriptive and analytical, critical and reflective way.

Contents

- Concerning the internship contents, they are individualized depending on the sector where the entity and Student is a professional practice. Each internship opportunity is planned at the beginning of 6. Semester between the supervisor of the University, the Student and Supervisor of the Home Entity.

- The research work is individualized according to the chosen research area and the Individual Work Plan, outlined at the beginning of the sixth. Semester between the supervisor, the Student and eventually, with the entities from which it is developing an empirical study.

Internship
Teaching method: Professional practice
Evaluation:
1) Teacher's supervisor evaluation on how the student demonstrated interest and involvement in the internship experience and within the development of the Final Report (65%)
2) Student performance in the public presentation and oral discussion of the Internship Report (10%)
3) Statement of the supervisor of the host organization demonstrating the performance and skills of the trainee in the implementation of activities (25%)

Research Work
Teaching method: Empirical research pratice
Evaluation:
1) Teacher's supervisor evaluation on how the student demonstrated interest and involvement in the researc experience and within the development of the final report concerning the Investigation Work (75%)
2) Student performance in the public presentation and oral discussion of the Investigation Work (25%)

Assessment

1. Professional Internship (EP)
1.1. Teaching method: professional practice
1.2. Assessment
a) Assessment of the internship report, made by the advisor: 60% of the final grade.
In case the grade assigned by the advisor exceeds 15 values, the student can choose between defending the grade, submitting to an oral test, or keeping the grade of 15 values.
b) Assessment of professional practice, made by the supervisor of the host institution: 40% of the final grade.
The student, in order to pass the EP, must obligatorily complete 320 hours of internship.

2.2. Assessment
a) Quality of the IT developed by the student throughout the academic period and presented in written form: 60% of the final grade b) Student performance in the presentation and oral discussion of IT: 40% of the final grade.
