Learning Goals

a) To develop sensorial perception and memory; to expand the sensibility to the movement of the body in space and time, individually and in group; to develop the presence of the body; and to practice experiential anatomy and physiology.
b) To develop the sensorial listening of the body and its movement in space and time; to develop capacities of interaction within a group through scenic and choreographic play; to expand the attention from psychosomatic, behavioural, emotional, contextual and expressive states; to develop a regular practice in an autonomous and responsible way.
c) To compose and interpret scenic movement sequences; to develop capacities of capture and repetition of physical actions; to expand the notions of stillness within movement; to consult archives and documentation on the methods and its authors (see bibliography, amongst others);
d) To elaborate a research diary through the experience of the body and its movement in by writing, drawing, mapping and recording.

Contents

a) Embodied practices
- structural notions on the body and its movement in the scenic space’s contextual-set.
- experiential anatomy and physiology.
b) Observation, awareness of the body and testimony
- listening of the body and its movement
- reading and analysis of movement and its expressivity
- repetition and transformation of movement
c) The methods and its authors
- research on archives and audiovisual documentation
- embodied actors’s training, improvisation and composition
d) Body image, record and documentation
- creative exploration of modes of recording and documenting the body and its scenic movement, from the work developed in this curricular unit.

Teaching Methods

The teaching methodology of this CU is centred in an embodied practice, influenced by different approaches to body training coming from dance, theatre and performing arts. The development of the knowledge and skills, by the students, is expanded through:
1) exercices of observation, body awareness and observation of one’s self, the other and the collective;
2) elaboration of research diaries of the body and its movement;
3) critical enquiry on the work undertaken;
4) archival and audiovisual research in the field of the methods and authors studied.

The evaluation consists of:
- attendance, endeavour and quality of participation 30%
- apprehension of contents, acquired competences and verified evolution 40%
- practical work 20%
- report about the practical work undertaken establishing relations with the practices developed in 10%
- mid-term evaluation, nonquantified, undertaken with the presence of the CU juri
To be evaluated, the student must attend 75% of the classes
