Sustainable Development Goals

Learning Goals

The student should be to master the main concepts of geometrical optics to explain the operation of various types of concentrators of solar radiation
- Should be able to scale systems in the first approximation and even draw the main types of "concentrators" in terms of concrete objectives of the intended applications.
- The student should be able to evaluate and select the solar tracking systems that best meet specific constraints.
- Students will have the tools that allow you to develop basic systems of monitoring, based on Programmable Automation.

Contents

1.Introduction

2.Fundamentals of Optics Concentration

3. Types of Concentrators

4. Solar Trackers: technological aspects and implementation

Teaching Methods

Theoretical and practical classes
Visits with Professor concentration solar systems
Practices Laboratory testing of concentrators and implementation of tracking systems.
Teaching is based on theoretical-practical and theoretical, and laboratory visits to solar concentration. Search will be an active learning that encourages students to research the various issues raised in this discipline.
Alongside the problems solved in class, work will be undertaken with a view to designing concentrators of various types, including analysis of their optical behavior by calculation and ray tracing.
There will be an evaluation system consists of: Problems solved at home (10%); concentrator design work (20%), practical work of implementing the tracking system 1GDL (20%), Final exam 50%.
